A rural Albertan, former government employee and third-term MLA is the latest Alberta Cabinet minister responsible for the Engineering, Geological and Geophysical Professions Act. The Hon. Hector Goudreau, the Progressive Conservative MLA for Dunvegan-Central Peace, was appointed Minister of Employment and Immigration on March 12. A former member of the Alberta Institute of Agrologists, Mr. Goudreau worked for 27 years as a district agriculturalist and then as a crop specialist for the Alberta Government. He’s also been an agronomist in Australia and the assistant manager of Falher Alfalfa, and he has his own farm. |

Raised on a Beaumont dairy farm, he graduated from the University of Alberta with a bachelor of science degree, majoring in agriculture. He’s been involved with a number of community, farming, economic and professional organizations, and is a past Falher town councillor and deputy mayor.
During his second term as an MLA, Mr. Goudreau served as Minister of Tourism, Parks, Recreation and Culture. He’s served on a number of government committees, including the Standing Policy Committee on Agriculture and Municipal Affairs, and the Heritage Savings Trust Fund Committee.
