The Geoscience Professional Development Centre
The Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA) has contributed $30,000 to the Geoscience Professional Development Centre (GPDC) at the University of Calgary. The centre meets the post-degree training needs of petroleum industry professionals by providing quality, low-cost courses in a broad array of cross-disciplinary geoscience topics in petroleum exploration, reservoir characterization and exploitation. Courses offered by the GPDC provide up-to-date knowledge of geoscience sub-disciplines and upgrade learners abilities to efficiently use integrated interpretative software.
The Centres computer teaching laboratory is equipped with 20 dual-monitor, high-end personal computers (PCs) and required peripherals.
Joining APEGGA
as a sponsor are the University of Calgary (UofC), the American Association of
Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) - $50,000, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists
(SEG) - $20,000, the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists (CSPG) - $10,000,
and the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (CSEG) - $10,000.
