Nominations Sought for
Canadian Engineers' Awards
The names of Canada's best and brightest engineers, most outstanding
engineering projects, and most exceptional engineering teams are being
sought by the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers (CCPE) for the
2001 Canadian Engineers'
Awards.
Presented annually by CCPE, the awards
recognize individual engineers for their engineering excellence, contributions
to the engineering profession and to Canadian society, and support of
women in the engineering profession. Outstanding teams of engineers and
engineering projects also are recognized.
The 2001 Canadian Engineers' Awards will be given in seven categories,
namely; the Gold Medal Award for exceptional individual achievement and
distinction in the field of engineering; the Young Engineer Achievement
Award for outstanding contribution in a field of engineering by an engineers
35 years of age or younger; the Meritorious Service Award for Professional
Service for outstanding contribution to a professional, consulting or
technical engineering association in Canada; the Meritorious Service Award
for Community Service for exemplary voluntary contribution to a community
organization or humanitarian endeavour; the Medal for Distinction in Engineering
Education for exemplary contribution to engineering teaching at a Canadian
university; the National Award for Exceptional Engineering Achievement
for outstanding engineering projects or achievements by an engineering
team in which Canadian engineers were involved, and the Award for Support
of Women in the Engineering Profession (See story this page).
All nominees for individual awards must be registered as a professional
engineer in Canada. The deadline for receiving nominations is 4 p.m. EST,
Monday, Jan. 8, 2001. Nomination forms and additional information can

the CCPE website at www.ccpe.ca. To
be considered by the CCPE Awards Committee, nominations must be supported
and submitted by a provincial/territorial constituent member of CCPE of
which the nominee is a member.
