New Environmental
Summit Award
Following a recommendation from the Environment Committee, APEGGA Council
has approved the terms of reference for a new Summit Award for Environmental
Excellence.
The award will be presented for the first time at next year's Summit Awards® to an individual,
team or project in recognition of the application of engineering, geological
or geophysical methods toward the preservation of the environment and
the practice of sustainable development. Projects carried out within Alberta
will be given priority.
Individual recipients must be APEGGA members. In the case of groups,
members of the group must belong to APEGGA, or the group's leader must
belong. Evaluation considerations include the project description and
systemic issues, the environmental impact and application of professional
skills.
Deadline for submission of nominations for the 2001 award is Sept. 30,
2000. There will be a special Summit Award insert in the September PEGG.
