The APEGGA Edmonton District hears the latest on solar energy from (top)
Gordon Howell, P.Eng., of Howell-Mayhew Engineering Inc., May 15. The
technology exists for widespread solar power generation, Mr. Howell said
-- but non-technological factors, from politics through economics, make
up about 95 per cent of the battle. Right, University of Alberta student
Erin Young and Gerald Zurek, P.Eng., both of ATCO, look over solar energy
shingles. About 100 people attended the district luncheon at the Westin,
followed by a tour of Epcor's commercial building integrated solar electrical
generating plant -- a rooftop example of the technology at work.
