The World Partnership Walk seeks champions in
corporations, public organizations, small business and schools
to support Aga Khan Foundation Canada. Organizers of the May
25 walk (see main story) want groups of participants to sign
up for the Team Challenge Program, to raise funds, build awareness
and compete for awards.
"Competition between corporate departments, local service
clubs, community groups and other teams builds morale while
getting results that make a world of difference," promotional
material for the walk says.
To form a team, visit the walk's website, go to Online Registration,
and follow the instructions. Whoever creates the team and
registers its name becomes the captain, keeping up to date
on the online performance of the team and its members. The
idea is to build the team's size, gather sponsorships, and
spread the word about the foundation and the walk.
Those who register at least five team members and raise $100
each by May 10 will receive a World Partnership Walk T-shirt
with their team name. If you can't participate in the walk,
organizers encourage you to sponsor someone who is participating.
Aga Khan Foundation also has volunteer opportunities available,
to help with the walk or otherwise raise awareness. Volunteering
is a great way to make a difference in the world, strengthen
communications skills, learn new skills and make new friends,
organizers say.
