Brian Tobin to Speak at Fund-raiser
Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Brian Tobin will speak on Resource Development in Newfoundland and Labrador at a fund-raiser being held in Calgary June 12 in support of The APEGGA Education Foundation. The fund-raiser will take place as Calgary next month becomes the world’s petroleum capital, hosting the 16th World Petroleum Congress (June 11-15) and the National Petroleum Show (June 12-15 ). Mr. Tobin, who became premier in 1996, was elected as a Member of Parliament in 1980 and subsequently re-elected to the Commons three times. He was appointed federal minister of fisheries and oceans in 1993 and prior to that chaired the national Liberal caucus. Tickets for the fund-raising event, to be held at the Roundup Centre Extension at Stampede Park are $150, and $1,200 for a table of eight.
