The nominee's work will have contributed to the betterment of society through the development of new material, equipment, techniques, philosophy or management related to engineering, geology or geophysics." Robert E. McTague Robert McTague is the president of Optima Engineers and Constructors Inc. Incorporated in 1987, Optima has grown to be a major engineering company providing multi-discipline engineering, process design, procurement, construction and quality management expertise to the oil and gas and petrochemical industries. Before starting Optima, Mr. McTague spent the early portions of his career with Bechtel Corporation and returned to Canada in the 1980s to head Emcon, a Calgary-based construction company. Mr. McTague possesses superior knowledge of engineering design practices, project management procedures, construction management, cost estimating and project controls. He appreciates, supports and reinforces the concepts of professionalism and professional ethics that are paramount to APEGGA. Mr. McTague has been lead lecturer for the University of Calgary Project
Management Specialization Program since 1985, and was instrumental in
helping establish the Chair in Project Management at the University of
Calgary. He serves as a mentor for many engineers, and construction and
project managers, both with Optima and with clients. |
