Mentoring

Mentoring Programs

The purpose of the program is the transfer of skills from the more experieneced members to less experienced members. The program is available to all those with an APEGGA member number. Proteges pay $50 for a year of mentoring; the program is free to mentors. Participants may register as a mentor and a protege if they wish. The mentoring matching software facilitates registration, matching, development of mentoring agreements and plans, progress reports and evaluations. See the mentoring homepage for further details. 1. Workplace Soft Skills - The first mentoring program or Pool A, focuses on workplace soft skills, e.g. teamwork, negotiation skills, etc. To be eligible for participation, registrants must be employed.

2. Employment & Career Skills - This second program or Pool B focues on employment and career related skills as well provisiono f career advise; however, it does not function as an employment service.

MIT Seminars

MIT Seminars - Five days of soft skill seminars are provided spring and fall in Edmonton and Calgary. The seminars are planned primarily for Members-in-Training; however, they are open to all interested members. Please see events calendar for upcoming seminars.

Professional Member Induction

Professional Member Induction - Evening ceremony held spring and fall in Edmonton and Calgary to celebrate registration of new professional members. Branches generally hold their ceremonies in conjunction with other events. Attendance by invitation only. Please see events calendar for upcoming ceremonies.

Ring Ceremony

Ring Ceremony - Ceremony held spring and fall in Edmonton and Calgary to celebrate completion of degree in professional studies. Event begins with morning workshop to discuss ethics and professionalism. Those graduates who attend the workshop and sign up for the MIT program are exempted from the application fee and the first year of dues. Following a luncheon, the Iron Ring ceremony is conducted for graduating engineers and an Earth Ring ceremony is held for graduating geoscientists. Attendance by invitation only.
