Did
you know engineers design running shoes? Running shoes are designed for
protection, performance and comfort.
Engineers
must know:
- How much
force goes from the ground through the shoe to the feet? In a running
shoe, weight is distributed throughout the whole foot - heel to toe.
- How much
cushioning is needed to absorb shock? It hurts less jumping on a softer
surface. That's why running shoes have foam that's soft and squishy.
- What
kind of tread is used on the bottom of the shoe? Treads help grip different
surfaces.
