Presented by Murray Vines, M.A., C. Psych., CHRP; Patti Connolly,
B.A., PD/AD, CHRP and Claudia Verburgh, CMC, CHRPMurray leads the psychology practice for Mastel Associates Ltd. of
Calgary. He is a Chartered Psychologist and a Certified Human Resources
Professional with a focus on performance management, leadership development,
stress management consulting and comprehensive psychological assessment.
Patti is a senior consulting professional with Edmonton’s Connolly
Verburgh Consulting Group Ltd. A Certified Human Resources Professional
with extensive experience in career development and human resource
management, she has a history of success helping organizations with
their people problems. Patti currently teaches at Concordia University.
Claudia is a Certified Management Consultant and Certified Human Resources
Professional with Connolly Verburgh Consulting Group Ltd. With over
15 years experience specializing in organization development, career
development and human resources, Claudia has a passion for helping
organizations to appreciate and maximize the value of their most precious
resource – their people. Claudia is active in the local Human
Resources community on several boards including the Human Resources
Management Association of Edmonton and the Human Resources Institute
of Alberta.This workshop will provide engineering professionals in leadership
roles with tools to deal with and prevent bullying and other problem
behaviours within their work environments. Please note that the workshop
is not designed to meet the needs of individuals who may currently
be the target of bullying behaviour.
The facilitators will review strategies and techniques leaders can
utilize to deal with problem behaviours evidenced by their direct reports.
Through awareness building and practical application participants will:
1. Gain an understanding of the most pervasive behaviour problems and
how they may appear.
2. Learn how to identify signs that a performance problem is developing.
3. Better understand myriad causes of bad behaviour in the workplace.
4. Learn how to identify techniques and strategies for dealing with
the various behaviours.
5. Appreciate the costs and consequences of not dealing with problem
behaviours.

Presented by Joanne BlakeJoanne has been a Certified Image Consultant since 1985. She has certification
from the Association of Image Consultants International (since 1990);
Personality Dimensions Certification through Career/Life Skills Resources
Inc. and True Colours Certification through Career/Life Skills Resources. Joanne’s major areas of expertise are in Social Skills for Business:
Business Protocol & Etiquette, Image Management, Team Building
and Interpersonal Communication. Her primary experience is as a customer
service trainer/coordinator for a major clothing chain and as a professional
image and client relationship consultant for many organizations within
several industries.After completion of this seminar, the participant will be able to:
1. Effectively and confidently host clients
2. Make proper introductions of self and others
3. Establish a game plan to prepare for networking events
4. Utilize the conversation cycle; small talk, conversation builders
and graceful exit

Presented by George Jergeas, Ph.D.George has a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Baghdad Tech. Univ. and
an M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Loughborough Univ. of Tech. in the UK. His
major areas of expertise are in project management, claims and disputes,
dispute resolution and teambuilding. George gained this experience
while working in infrastructure civil engineering and building projects.Loss and Risk Management (Related to the Practice of Engineering and
Geoscience)After completion of the seminar, the participant will be able to:1. Discuss loss and risk management as they relate to the law of contracts
2. Demonstrate an understanding the requirements of the law of tort
and negligence
3. Explain key health and safety issues as they relate to risk and
loss management
4. Describe loss and risk management as it relates to environmental
issues

Presented by Billy Strean, Ph.D. Billy
has a B.A. from Grinnell College, Iowa, an M.A. from U of Iowa and
a Ph.D. from
U of Illinois. He is also a certified professional
co-active coach and a certified laughter leader. His major areas of
expertise are in sport psychology, performance, coaching, “play,
fun and games,” optimal experience. Other than through formal
education, Billy gained this experience through 12 years of consulting
with elite athletes, business and educational institutions.
