TOPIC: A Design Strategy for Field Communications
Communication links have long been a component of engineered field sites, but increasing demands for more applications and bandwidth are requiring network designs that move beyond made-to-purpose "point solutions". A general-purpose network is ideal to support growth, but application demands arrive slowly, and in piecemeal fashion. How can a forward-looking designer build a network with limited capital dollars today, and still enable future growth?
Mr. Belzil will present a portfolio of Calgary-based wireless-telecommunication technologies available to help engineers and operators design and evolve a cost-effective communications network. He'll outline a strategy that allows for budget-constrained design to meet immediate needs, but within an overall architecture that permits future upgrade. The topic will interest engineers designing communication links, and operators of remote field sites in all industries.
