The branch executive held a strategic planning session at our last meeting
during which time the issues discussed at the AGM Council Meeting were
carried forth and a business plan for the branch was discussed.
Branch
Activities:
- Awards
were presented to two female students at St. Mary's School for third
place in the APEGGA National Engineering Week Regional School Challenge
on April 26th. The award was promoted on CHAT Radio in Medicine Hat.
- An executive
meeting was held May 9th to discuss the upcoming branch luncheon, the
Teacher Award results and the August Golf Tournament. The new Branch
Manuals were distributed.
- A branch
luncheon was held on May 30th with 24 members and guests in attendance.
The speaker, Mr. Keith Frost of Edward Jones Investments, spoke on retirement
planning.
- Two teachers
were selected to share this year's Teacher Award. Mr. Rick Burry of
the Christian School, whose award will be presented on June 13th and
Mr. Joey Gentile of Central Park School, who was presented his award
May 31st. A photograph and article about both teachers appeared in the
Medicine Hat News the following day. Both teachers were previous nominees
for the award. A celebration lunch is being planned.
- Two executive
members from our branch are attending the upcoming Branch Orientation
Session in Edmonton on June 16th.
Branch
Budget:
- An APEGGA
advance for $1000 was received the beginning of April. It is felt there
are sufficient funds to carry us through the golf tournament scheduled
in August.
Upcoming
Branch Meetings:
- A Branch
Executive meeting is scheduled for the week of Jun 18th.
- 2001 Teacher
Award Celebration is scheduled for late June.
- The Annual
joint ASET/APEGGA Golf Tournament is scheduled for August 18th is scheduled
at Cottonwood Coulee Golf Course. Plans are in the making currently.
- Jim Troyer,
P. Eng. Of Bnermark will be making a presentation entitled "Extending
the Life of the Medicine Hat Glauconitic C Pool Through Enhanced Oil
Recovery Techniques - Challenges and Solutions " to our members
on September 13th.
- A Plant
Tour and Family Barbecue are tentatively planned for September.
- APEGGA
will be participating in the Cypress Center High School Career Fair
booked for October 30th.
