Branch Activities
We published our third quarterly newsletter.
Since the November Council meeting, the branch has only held one function, the President’s Visit and New Member Induction Ceremony. The President, Dale Miller, P. Eng., Past President Sue Evison, P. Eng., First Vice-President Ron Tenove, P. Eng., and Executive Director Neil Windsor, P. Eng. were in attendance. In addition, dignitaries such as the managers and permit to practice holders of many of the operating and engineering firms in town, as well as the mayor were in attendance. There were 70 attendees who helped induct the nine new members as professionals, and Dale gave a speech on the relevancy of the profession, and a brief talk on the city of Lethbridge.
Upcoming Events
C.I.M./APEGGA Extraction Managers Night – This joint technical night is scheduled for February 12, 2002 and will include presentations by the operating plant managers such as Jerry Hanford from Syncrude, Brad Bjornson from Suncor, and Art Ratte from Albian Sands.
Fluor/APEGGA Technical Night – This sponsored technical night on February 20, 2002 will be presented by a guest speaker from Fluor who will be speaking on Oilsands Expansion Technologies.
Annual General Meeting – This is on March 27, 2002 and the speaker will be Mike Ashar, P. Eng., Executive Vice President Oil Sands, Suncor Energy.
