BRANCH ACTIVITY REPORT

Branch Meeting:

  • Since the last Branch Chairs' Meeting, the Central Alberta APEGGA Branch

has held 3 meetings.

Plant Tours / Events / PD Day / Students Outreach:

  • In October the branch had a tour of Eagle Marine in Sylvan Lake. Eagle Marine designs and builds a variety of aluminum boats for the North American market. The tour was attended by approximately 30 members.

  • Central Alberta APEGGA volunteers responded to several classroom and career fair requests as well as supporting the APEGGA display booth at the ATA Science Teachers Conference in Red Deer.

  • The branch conducted an informal survey of the Central Alberta membership to gauge interest in graduate level courses in the area. The survey indicated a high level of interest with the more popular choices focusing on MBA and Project Management courses. These results are being shared with Red Deer College. The College will be exploring the viability of such an initiative.

 

Branch Budget:

  • The branch balance is approximately $2122.19 as of November 6,2001.

Upcoming Events:

  • On Dec 4 the branch will be holding a diner and presentation by Dr. Dave Irvine-Halliday, P. Eng. and Jenny Irvine-Halliday R. N. . the subject will be " Light Up the World" and will cover their efforts to bring low cost lighting to underdeveloped parts of the world.

  • The Branch will be hosting the President's Visit on January 31, 2002.
