George Edward Ernest Sedgwick, P.Eng., of Edmonton, a longtime engineer with
the Alberta Research Council, passed away suddenly Nov. 2 at age 64. Dr. Sedgwick
was noted for his work in sensor and process control in ARC's forestry unit.
He received his bachelor of engineering physics degree from the University of
Saskatchewan in 1962, then earned his PhD in electrical engineering from the
University of Alberta in 1974.
A research council employee since 1980, Dr. Sedgwick was a member of the Society
of Petroleum Engineers, Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum,
the ISA, the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association, the Society of Manufacturing
Engineers, and the Electronic Industries Association of Alberta, as well as APEGGA.
