THE
IMPORTANCE OF CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT “Professional
status should not be taken lightly.” So says Lianne Lefsrud, P.Eng., APEGGA’s
Assistant Director of Professional Practice, in explaining why the Association
actually cancels memberships for failure to comply with the Continuing Professional
Development program.

PROTECTING PE - HELP US BUILD THE CASE We
consider protection of your restricted titles a critical part of our regulatory
role. APEGGA’s work in this area adds value to membership – while
building and maintaining the public’s trust in the various engineering
and geoscience titles. To that
end, APEGGA is opposing the granting of “PE” as
a Canadian trademark to the Alberta Institute of Power Engineers.

GIVE YOUR COO A
SALARY SURVEY NUDGE You know it as the annual salary survey. We call it
the Value of Professional Services. By whatever name, the next version is in
your court.
APEGGA recently sent out nearly 1,300 surveys to permit
holding companies – compared
with about 750 last year. Every permit holder with two or more staff was mailed
a survey.
The more companies that participate, the more valid the information.
We urge you to do your part by asking your HR person or COO to fill out the survey.
Was your company missed? Contact Ross Plecash, P.Eng., Director of Corporate
and Member Affairs, at rplecash@apegga.org.

need to wait until next year for more.

TECHNICAL
SOCIETY UPDATES Once a year, APEGGA publishes a listing of key contacts for
technical societies. These organizations provide an important means for APEGGA
