Ian
is the President of the Alberta Bio-diesel Association, the BC Bio-diesel Association,
and sits on the Mayor’s Climate Leadership Council in Vancouver. Since
2003, Canadian Bioenergy’s founders have led the development of the bio-diesel
market in Western Canada, with successful large-fleet trials in Alberta and British
Columbia. Canadian Bioenergy currently supplies bio-diesel to public and
private fleets throughout Alberta and B.C., drawing stocks from bulk terminals
in Calgary and Vancouver. The company developed a pilot test with six BC
municipalities (Burnaby, Delta, North Vancouver, Richmond, Vancouver and Whistler)
that would become the core of the BC Bio-fleet in 2004. It also supported
the City of Calgary Fire Department in a pilot that has concluded in more widespread
adoption of bio-diesel in city yards.
