Gabor
Mate is a physician and author in Vancouver, British Columbia. He
has worked in family practice, palliative medicine, and addiction medicine. Currently
he is a staff physician at a facility for drug addicted persons in Vancouver's
Downtown East Side, many of them with HIV. He has written three nationally
bestselling books in Canada. His second book, “When The Body Says
No”, on the mind/body unity in health and illness, has been published in
ten languages on five continents.
His fourth book, “In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters
with Addiction”, will be published in January, 2008.
He was a long-time medical columnist for the “Vancouver Sun” and the “Globe and Mail”, where his byline continues to be seen on issues of health and of parenting and child development.
As a speaker and seminar leader, Dr. Mate is in great demand in Canada and internationally.
