Discover the Potential of Your Radiant
Mind through Mind-Mapping
Nancy Peterson
Mind Mapping®, developed by Tony
Buzan, is an enhanced method of note
taking and note making that uses
colour, key words, and images to summarize,
sort, and retain information. It
is
especially useful in organizing thinking
for maximum concentration, productivity,
creativity and recall. Once you learn
the basics, you can use Mind Mapping
to think, plan and manage projects,
document processes and meetings,
summarize articles, books and reports
and prepare
presentations.
Session Objectives:
- Learn
how to mind map
- Identify areas specific to your job where
a Mind Map can be more beneficial than
linear notes
- Gain tips and techniques to apply mind
mapping in three situations - problem solving,
planning, summarizing
- View
Mind Mapping software

Whole Brain Thinking: Understand How
Your Thinking Preferences Impact Your
Decision Making
Nancy Peterson
Thinking preferences influence the
way we learn, communicate, solve problems
make decisions, and interact with others.
Do you know your dominant thinking
patterns?
What conflicts occur when different
styles of thinking clash? Consider
how the characteristics
of four primary thinking styles impact
your success - individually and as
a member of a team. This is the instrument
that Queen’s University uses
in the Executive Leadership Development
Program.
Session
Objectives:
- Learn the four primary thinking styles
of the Whole Brain Model™
- Gain insight to the conditions required
for effective communicating and decision
making
- Discuss ways to manage and value diverse
thinking in groups and teams

Make Meetings More Productive with Six
Thinking Hats
Nancy Peterson
Based on the system developed by Dr. Edward
de Bono, this method separates types of
thinking – emotions from facts, positive
from negative, critical from creative.
People learn to wear each “hat” strategically
in a process for exploring issues, solving
problems and finding opportunities. DuPont
employed this thinking throughout their
organization and reduced time spent in
meetings by 25%.
Session
Objectives:
- Compare
a regular discussion to a discussion
using the Six Hats framework
- Learn how to use the Hats on both an occasional
and systematic basis
- Apply Six Thinking Hats to prepare for,
lead/participate in, and schedule meetings
